Otherwise Engaged
I just thought I'd share with you the little surprise that G pulled out from under his pillow on Christmas morning. I was really tempted to try out "Why Mr. G, this is all so sudden," in my best faux-Southern accent, but since we were reclining lazily together in our bed at the time, I wasn't sure he'd buy it.
I don't really live by the dictum "never apologize, never explain," since I find myself doing both with some frequency. I have no real excuses for almost three weeks of silence on this blog, not counting my last hasty entry into Sugar High Friday. Like everyone else, we were frantic-busy-overwhelmed-with-craziness for a couple of weeks before Christmas...but as for the past week or so, G and I have been pretty well occupied basking in the wonder and happiness of having come to this place, this time, together.
Where and when we plan to make an honest man and woman of each other remains to be seen, but we'll keep you posted.
All happiness, all good things, all love to you in the new year, from both of us.
What wonderful news! All of the best to both of you, and a Happy New Year too!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! (does happy dance)
So does this mean that I can come to your house and oo and ahh over your ring while I crack my gum and ask when you're going to choose your china pattern? ;)
All wackiness aside, I am so thrilled for you both. Happy 2007, dearest Julie.

how wondrous. the food blogging world has some major weddings on it's horizons. honest man and woman? why?
but the real question is: who will bake the cake?

I was wondering the same thing as Shuna-what will the food be like?
Congratulations Julie! Weddings are such lovely celebrations-and are at their peak when everyone's been honest already! Many blessings to you in 2007.

*squeal* I came by to wish you a happy new year (I've been remiss with my blogger duties) and find you engaged! I'm SO happy for you and what a pretty ring!!! Even prettier on your hand I bet. (I love the box, too, which I'm not sure makes me lame or ... not, haha.) I am so thrilled that I found you & your blog in 2006 and can't wait to read more and more about your adventures in cooking/baking/life. Best of everything,
Yvo

Many many thanks to all of you for your lovely wishes and thoughts. And I'm definitely open to any and all suggestions as far as bakers and cakes...as well as everything/anything else. We're in a state of complete indecision, spiraling from private ceremony to all-inclusive wedding to a series of parties -- or combinations of any and all of the above. All we know is that spring -- this spring -- meaning SOON -- is our preferred time frame.

honeymoon san francisco?
Just think - he could have the chance to pull a big fat toulouse sausage from under the pillow as well, then ;)
I'm squealing for you, so happy to hear it!

Yay! So happy for you--as a kind of newly affianced person myself, I cheer wholeheartedly for all declarations involving little ring boxes! congrats and all the best for a sweet and happy life together.

And so many good wishes from Ireland. Engagement is wonderful, am in the later stages of planning my wedding (engaged since April, wedding this May...) and loving it.
We're doing a small wedding in the countryside followed a month later by a big party in town. Seems to be working out well...
Good luck with the decisions!

My heart skipped a beat just looking at that picture... Congratulations Julie and G!
Planning a wedding can be stressful - but only if you let it. Our four months of planning (yes, only four months!) were as much fun as the wedding itself. Just trust your gut feelings and don't feel guilted into doing everything the magazines tell you... ;)
