Just Because
Despite cheerful blog-rhetoric that might lead one to think that pie-anxiety is my biggest problem, it's been a very difficult week -- couple of weeks, in fact. G is the one person who's kept me sane in a morass of work, school and family-related stress. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say that about half an hour ago my husband came home with these in his arms. For me. Why? Just because, he said. Just because you've been having a rough patch lately. Just because I love you.
Sure. Of course I burst into tears -- what then? Well, then he ran out to pick up the dry-cleaning before the shop closed. Yes, I know. And I guess I just thought the rest of the world should know as well.

Ay, Julie Mama, please clone your man so that I too can get beautiful flowers when I'm having a rough patch...that would be just about weekly lately.

Those are gorgeous! Yellow roses are my favorites... and I think the best reason for giving or receiving flowers is "just because".

hi, I've been looking at your blog for a while now. Don't even remember how I found it. Probably doing a google search for some food or another and your blog came up. I have not been into blogging long at all and am just realizing as I am finally commenting that I think your blog holds the distinction for the blog I've looked at the longest of any I now follow! :) I like the way you write about food and I enjoyed reading about you teaching your "cooking class" as I am also a teacher. G seems completely wonderful and I'm glad you shared your happiness and the wonderfulness of your man with us. It is so refreshing and much nicer than hearing the men bashing that is so prevalent it seems. I will say that I too have a wonderful man who happened to bring me white tulips last week one morning before school! Have a very happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us! Kelly

Ay Betty-mama, I know I'm a lucky girl. I don't need to clone -- that guy with the flowers is going to show up on your doorstep, sooner rather than later -- I can feel it.
Kimberley, it's great to hear from you again! I agree -- the "just because" is certainly the most touching way to receive flowers -- and yes, I think the best. Have wonderful holidays...
Kelly, many thanks for your kind and generous comment! It's always a great pleasure to hear from a teaching colleague. I can't wait to check out your blog, and I hope you'll keep visiting -- and commenting! Have a lovely holiday.
